You all may remember last year, on New Year’s Eve, I posted a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! of all the coolest cars I’d snapped pictures of this year. Well, I did it again for 2015, only this time I created a folder on January 1st specifically for this purpose. I can honestly say this album has been the must fun “project” I’ve ever undertaken, and now, here it is. If you somehow can’t find a single car you like here, at least you can enjoy all the cameos by my own humble automobile.
Also, there’s nothing I enjoy more than throwing stereotypes out the window. I have added a line partway down the post. Every car above that line was spotted in the wild (not at a show, dealer, etc.) right here in Nebraska.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
All cars below this line were spotted in a different state and/or at a show/dealer/etc.
Note: You might be saying to yourself, “SM70, you moron! New Year’s Eve is still weeks away!” You’d be correct, and I sincerely hope that is not the most insightful observation you will make today. However, I have found myself in rather unusual circumstances this year. For the next ten days, I will be in a mad rush to finish my college applications, study for and take my finals and other major projects, and prepare for a trip. Then, on the 20th, I’ll be leaving for Israel, and I won’t be back until after New Year’s. So I figured rather than try to put together a post now and schedule it for the 1st, I’d just post it now. So there.

Mark ye well - these are surprisingly uncommon. It’s not *much* longer than a normal RRC, but it is a little bit. Most of them have the less common 4.2 V8.

I saw two this year...it was BRG with Connecticut plates...lemme see if I can find it.

These are the voyages of the Stangship Macherprise. Its continuing mission: to explore strange new meets. To seek out new tires, and new filling stations. To boldly go where no Stang has gone before....

This diamond plate is just dumb. I don’t think the 110 pickup was ever offered here (SHOCKER), and I don’t think it was offered period until after ‘90, but it’s veryy possible that the necessary parts to make it happen were “obtained”. In fact, if you note that the front fenders have US-required side lights and the rear ones don’t, it’s pretty clear that’s exactly what happened. One EU-spec rear bucket, one long cab, et voila!

O hai Euro bumpers.

Late IIa - identifiable by the 5” rocker trim and the fact it has fender light cutouts.

Legal US import, not a pre-’90. The tells being the cage and the badge saying “Defender”.

Only about 2000 Mark IIs out there, ever. R-A-Y-A-R-E rare.

I scrapped one that was originally from White Plains. Kind of a shame, but it was rotted underneath to the point of insanity.

Mmmmm. Best Lincoln out of the whole photo dump.
If I had to pick a favorite from the list it would be impossible but I will say the V10 R8, Ford GT, Diablo, Wraith, 430 Scudira, DB9 Volante, Gullwing, 59 Cadillac, V12 CL Merc, and Porsche Boxster Spyder all got my attention.

And beautiful

I was always insulted they skipped the III, IV, V from 58/60

Loser. Should have gotten the 65. Gotta have a V12

The missing Marks are only part of the oddity surrounding that series of Lincolns. It’s kind of like trying to reconstruct a timeline after an Orwellian regime has come through and wiped everything. ‘58-’60s are down the memory hole in a very weird way in general - unacknowledged, despite being the period in which the old Lincoln eight-pointed star breathed its last and Continental re-entered the fold. It’s like the outside understanding of Lincoln is meant to be that Lincoln made epic Continentals following the Zephyrs, made a few racing Capris and some Cosmopolitans and things, *mumble mumble* AND THEN SUDDENLY THE ‘61 IMMACULATELY MATERIALIZED TA DA

A good list.

Actually, that just makes things more confusing. I can see from those pictures that the international 110s went to a fender signal later on on front, so that *doesn’t* actually mean that it’s a US front in any way shape or form. It may be - gasp - illegal-ish.
![]() 12/10/2015 at 11:52 |

I know Robert Mcnamera hated the 58/60 and considered shutting down the branch after the huge loss in sales. But still at least a little acknowledgement would be nice. Sure it might not have been the prettiest but I wouldn’t say it is the ugliest Lincoln ever either. Or even the worst car from 58/60 in the Ford lineup

Different hubcaps on the one on the rollback. I suspect that’s the usual FoMoCo farce meaning it’s a different model year based on that. I don’t think the Mark IIs actually have any sheet metal differences, but I could be wrong.
![]() 12/10/2015 at 11:53 |

Lets say you had to pick top three from the photo dump. What would it be?
![]() 12/10/2015 at 11:54 |

Couldn’t do it. Couldn’t come anywhere close.
![]() 12/10/2015 at 11:56 |

That would have been my suspicion - that the central planning-obsessed delusions-of-grandeured McNamara more or less quietly unpeople’d everybody connected. Which makes it even more weird that the Lincoln’s unibody engineering fed into the development of the Falcon. Then again, nobody ever said McNamara’s managing wasn’t a little fucky.
![]() 12/10/2015 at 11:59 |

I think I could. The key is separating them into categories. Performance, grand tourer, classics.
Performance: Ford GT
Grand Tourer: Wraith
Classic: (because I need a convertible) 59 Cadillac
![]() 12/10/2015 at 12:01 |

They had already put so much R/D into the development of unibody engineering that they likely didn’t want it to go to waste

Yeah, the owner is a pretty nice dude. They make “smart” t.v remotes

A ton of them are at Happy Hollow or Regency Court. Both are right near my house, and I can’t resist the urge to stop by because of all the cool cars.
![]() 12/11/2015 at 16:52 |

I met the owner at the house with the GT4o. He’s driven that car on the Le Mans circuit.

It sure is an attention-getter. But yeah those old Eagles are awesome. That one was in amazingly good shape considering it was from south dakota and has a trailer hitch.

Sheeit...you couldn’t have taken a more on-point photo right here.
In the background, you have my current steed, a white facelift XC90. In the foreground, you have precisely the two cars I want to make it company in the next couple years: a white M4 and a current-gen A6 (I know that’s an S6, but how much closer could it get?)...
Maybe it’s a sign.

It’s most definitely a sign
